How about addressing the elephant in the room? Blue Room Cave is basically a fantasy area or a gift created by Mother Nature. The cave is filled with multiple underground springs and has sunlight coming from a hole in the ceiling ( lava formation ). Thanks to the bacteria present in these waters, once the sunlight casts its spell on the water, the entire cave is turned blue and as the name suggests, now you know why. Though you are not recommended to swim in these waters, there is a possibility to enter the cave on foot.

The caves of Makauwahi is Hawaii’s largest limestone cave and is also the richest fossil site. One has to crawl to enter the Makauwahi cave and at few places, the limestone studded caves have open ceilings leaving the cave open to see the Kauai skies. Unlike the other caves, Makauwahi also stresses more on conservation and is home to some endangered plants and water birds.
