Tarun has accomplished his bucket list of skydiving in Dubai at 15600 feet over the Palm Jumeirah Beach.
The desire for adventure had been hardwired into this bucket lister at a very early age. Tarun recalls the days of schooling when he used to patiently sit in front of the television with his eyes set on the Discovery Channel.
“I used to see different people doing all sorts of crazy things on Discovery. This kept me thinking and dreaming of doing all those things for myself. In the process, my bucket list kept on growing.”
Tarun is an adventure freak and has accomplished a lot of bucket lists prior to skydiving in Dubai. To start off on his bucket list journey, Tarun went mountain biking on the Himalayas. He then moved on to paragliding. He accepts that difficulties did lay on his path but our bucket lister was no quitter.
Tarun’s experience of skydiving in Dubai is a matter of thrill. He recalls how the plane flying him had no seats. He had a free fall for about twenty seconds and remained in the air for fifteen minutes before landing.
“I remember the moment right before the jump as the plane had already soared up to about 16000 feet with temperatures dropping to -3 to -4 degrees. I accept that fear was trying to get to me. Thoughts about going back flooded my mind. I had already spent a lot on my bucket list and what if this was a wrong choice that I have made. Amidst all the negative thoughts, a voice whispered in my head telling me that it would matter a lot to me if I jumped, but if I didn’t. it would matter even more. And I jumped.”
Tarun had been working passionately and saving up on every penny for the last six years just for his thrill for adventure.
“You have to take your bucket list seriously and only then will you be able to accomplish it. Set a monthly target on expenses and a time-frame for your bucket list. Work on it.”
Tarun accepts that he was very excited at his adventure sports bucket list, during the jump itself but the feeling of having accomplished it is far more overwhelming.
“The feeling is inexplicable once you complete things on your bucket list because these are the very things that made up my childhood. I used to just make wishes but now as I am living them, that’s definitely a big achievement for me.”
There’s no halt for this bucket lister. He has accomplished his next bucket list recently by skateboarding in Ladakh at 16000ft and is looking forward to his next adventure already. He wants to skydive again, but this time over Bali.
For souls like him seeking adventure, the Wanderlustguy has an advice for you.
“I can never stress enough on the importance of saving. Money has a primary role to play in any form of adventure sports, like skydiving. Even if it’s a ten rupee note, I would advise you to save it.”
