Here’s a simple guide to create your Bucket List!

It is good to have goals in life, goals we can look forward to in the future. I do not just speak of professional goals but mostly personal goals. Goals, that one must accomplish before they ‘kick the bucket’. I mean, a simple guide for your bucket list.

You must have had something that you’ve always wanted to do for a very long time but the circumstances or time didn’t permit you to pursue those activities. You wanted to make a dent in on your well-chalked out life but couldn’t. Trust me, you’re not alone.

This is why, having a guide to your bucket list is so important.

One day you will wake up and there won’t be any more time to do the things you’ve always wanted. Do it now – Paul Coelho

Now, you might already have a bucket list in place or maybe are planning to create one for yourself. Let’s have a glance at that list for once. Are your bucket list items/goals smart ? Well, a smart goal is a smarter you. By smart I mean, Simple, Motivating, Attainable, Realistic and Timely.

Go on and make a list and start off with the simple ones at first. Move on to the next. This will not only motivate you to go on with your bucket list but give you ample time to plan for the bigger items on your bucket list.

You might want to take a hiking trip to the Himalayas but training your mind and body for that trip takes a lot of time. This is where the timeliness of your bucket list comes at play. Your bucket list could have you joining a swimming class. Swimming naturally increases your lung capacity and helps you regulate your breathing. You can utilize this acquired quality for your trip to the Himalayas.

One might have to push their limits but the goal should be realistic and attainable. You might want to have a trip to Mars at the age of 60. That, although amazing as it sounds is too far a stretch. But that, shouldn’t limit your imagination.

Positivity and optimism have a clear role here. There may be times where you would have to postpone your bucket list due to responsibilities or unforeseen circumstance. But you must not procrastinate and always remember that as short as life is, the bigger are the opportunities in the moments that make a life.

By now, I’m sure you must have five of these in your mind already. Note them down, look at them and prioritize them ‘smart’ly.

Next ? Do it. At least try one for yourself. The meetings, presentations and phone calls can wait. Rediscover what it means to be living right now, in the moment, by your bucket list. Soon, you’ll realize how good it feels and your bucket list guide will grow as you grow along with it.

It’ll prove to you that, “Dust thou art, to dust returnest,” was not spoken of the soul.
