Kabaddi is a popular, contact sports played in teams that took birth in Tamil Nadu of India with it achieving the status of a state game in various Indian states. It is also the national game of Bangladesh. Subsequently, kabaddi has achieved a cult status when it comes to sports in South Asia. The main reason why the sport enjoys such popularity is because of its sheer simplicity. It is an easy to play, easy to watch sports that provides entertainment and excitement in equal proportions.

How to Play

The sport is played between two teams, each consisting of 7 players.  The two teams are allotted the two halves of the sports field where one of the members called a raider is required to go into the other team’s half and has to tag members of the other team while chanting “kabaddi, kabaddi, kabaddi..” and return to his half of the field without being pinned down even once. This is the points are earned.

What makes the Sport different from Others

Kabaddi is primarily famous in South Asia. The format of the game is unique which makes it stand out among the myriad of games that are played across the world. It is a fun form of pastime that is especially popular among kids and adults alike.  Long before it took status among the elite, kabaddi was thought to be a quaint, unsophisticated sports.
